Ganga-sagar is famous all over the world for its holy bath. Ganga-sagar is the place where the Ganga flows into the Bay of Bengal. As mentioned in the Mahabharata, a learned sage explained the significance of taking dip at the union of Ganga sagar to Bhisma. Ganga Sagar Yatra falls on either 14th or 15th January every year in which the devotees perform their rituals and take a bathe in the holy Ganga. The key concept behind the holy bathe at Ganga Sagar is to cleanse and to purify the soul. Ganga sagar is also popular across the world for the Kumbh Mela where devotees in lakhs take part. The pilgrims offer with various temples and ashrams at Ganga sagar including Bharat Sevashram Sangha, Ramakrishna Mission, Kapil Muni Temple and Omkarnath etc.
